It is with great pleasure that I invite you to attend the 8th annual HealthCert / University of Queensland Skin Cancer Conference and Masterclasses, “Integrating Skin Cancer Practice”, to be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from July 27 to 30, 2016.
This year we are focussing on the practical aspects of managing skin cancer, from setting up a practice to diagnosing accurately and treating effectively and efficiently. You will be educated and entertained by world leaders in the fields of accurate diagnosis and practical surgical treatment.
Controversial issues such as the reporting of dysplasia in naevi and the use of sentinel lymph node biopsy – just to name two – will be addressed at the conference. A skin malignancy can be diagnosed accurately and excised perfectly but if the dermatopathology assessment is flawed, the whole process is unwound. Delegates to the Masterclasses will have tuition in the important aspects of skin cancer histology while looking into multi-header microscopes.
Giuseppe Argenziano, Associate Professor of Dermatology at the Department of Dermatology, Second University of Naples, with the backing of over 300 scientific publications, will share his vast knowledge of dermatoscopy, and Richard P Usatine, MD, Professor of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery Medicine at The University of Texas Health Sciences Centre, San Antonio, author of five books and 120 scientific papers, will demonstrate practical surgical techniques including the appropriate use of curettage and cautery.
I am working to make this conference the “best ever” and I see this as an important step in the process of achieving a consistent level of competence in primary care skin cancer practice in Australasia.
I hope to see you there!
